Founded in 1946 in the Italian-speaking Swiss city of the same name, the Locarno International Film Festival is a major event in the international film calendar, revealing new trends and the genius of young directors. Amidst the upheaval of the global epidemic, its 2020 edition will be held mainly online and is entitled “For the Future of Films”. Numerous shoots were cancelled and many films could not be finished. This special edition is responding to these exceptional circumstances by supporting independent filmmaking. 10 international projects and 10 Swiss projects have been selected by the Artistic Direction. The special competition, “The Films After Tomorrow”, is awarding two Golden Leopards to film projects whose production was interrupted because of the global health crisis. Tënk is offering you the chance to discover some of the films revealed in earlier editions of the festival including 4 made by filmmakers taking part in this year’s competition with their next, unfinished feature-length movies.
Every year during Marché du Film - Festival de Cannes, Cannes Docs offers a tailored program of events for all feature documentary film professionals – filmmakers of all backgrounds and industry decision-makers alike. At the heart of the world’s n°1 film festival and market, Cannes Docs reaffirms the fundamental role of the documentary genre, and works at ever-strengthening its organic integration within the global film industry. This year Cannes Docs is going digital, with the aim of best preserving its identity and philosophy: to be as useful, relevant and welcoming as possible for the entire doc community.
Every month, we meet up with a new partner festival. With a few films either from the previous edition or from the festival currently underway, we share the originality of festivals’ editorial lines to tell us something about the world today and showcase the vibrancy of contemporary cinematographic creation.
