About this film

Synopsis

Can a rock band be the village that raises a child? We follow internationally acclaimed Montreal band Thee Silver Mt. Zion Memorial Orchestra, which has accepted a baby into its touring tribe.

Tënk's opinion

In “Come Worry With Us!”, Helene Klodawsky finds herself with extraordinary access to the everyday life of an independent band. She delves as deeply into their life in the Menuck-Moss couple’s Mile-End apartment with their endearing kid Ezra as she does into the five-member band’s tour bus. Her film echoes “Low in Europe” (Sebastian Schrade, 2004), which followed the American trio Low on the road on the old continent, accompanied by the young daughter of the band’s couple.
Since politics are at the heart of Thee Silver Mt. Zion’s approach – and that of the mythic group Godspeed You! Black Emperor, of which Menuck was one of the founding members – Klodawsky’s film, as well as unflinchingly addressing the question of parenthood and its traditional roles, also offers a shrewd detour via Quebec’s Student Spring in 2012. In these worrying times, what better than these musicians’ fierce independence to make us want to continue the struggle?
